By reading this letter you have now taken the first and most important step in becoming a member of RIPTIDE as we enter our second year of competition..

In 2009, RIPTIDE performed mainly in FFCC competitions. For 2010, we are looking to expand our schedule to include WGI Regional Contests and the WGI Percussion World Championshi[s in Dayton Ohio.

The Audition Days are an opportunity for you to get to know us and for us to see your strengths as a performer and musician. No matter what your level of experience, and as long as you make an effort to attend every camp and performance with a positive attitude, work hard, be professional, bring enthusiasm and passion every time we meet, you will have a spot somewhere in the ensemble. That’s all we as a staff and organization will ask!

We are excited to be competing in the Independent A Class Marching Percussion Division. Plans are under way to bring you the best and most creative show possible. The staff is 90% set, we have secured rehearsal/housing facilities at Middleburg High School, and we have secured equipment thru Mapex drums and Majestic Front Ensemble, as well as being endorsed by ProMark Sticks and Remo drumheads.

The PRIMARY GOAL of the Riptide Percussion Ensemble is to create something amazing, that is educational, and will allow you as a performer and musician to grow and mature as well as exciting our audiences. We want to help you learn to work well and communicate with others, to always set high standards and goals, to expect nothing less than your very best and to set out and reach for one common goal together as a group of diverse individuals.

The staff that will be serving and teaching you, has many years of experience as performers, arrangers, educators and spectators. WE are also here for one common goal... to help you succeed and be the BEST you can be!!

So whether you are attending our Audition Days as an auditionee, or just out of curiosity, we hope you will enjoy what we have to offer and walk away learning something new as a percussionist, a musician, a performer and maybe make a few new friends along the way as well….
