Ron Ellis
Program Coordinator/Brass Arranger/Brass Caption Head – Caption Head

Ron EllisRon Ellis currently serves as the Assistant Director of Bands and Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Central Florida where he is deeply involved in all aspects of the UCF band program. In addition to writing drill and music for the 250 member Marching Knights, he serves as the coordinator/director for the the Jammin’ Knights Pep Bands, Assistant Conductor of the UCF Wind Ensemble and Concert Band, and Instructor of the Marching Band Techniques Courses. He is also currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Wind and Orchestral Conducting at the University of South Florida where he is a student of Dr. William Wiedrich. He also has served as a conductor, clinician, show designer, music composer/arranger and adjudicator throughout the United States.

As a professional musician and conductor, Ron currently holds the position of Music Director for the Walt Disney Company where his duties include rehearsing, producing, and performing with outstanding college musicians from universities all across the nation and national recording artists/clinicians. In addition, he serves as a show coordinator for the Disney Student Musician Program at the Magic Kingdom where he coordinates and rehearses all student parade bands and street performances of The Fanfares of Christmas, The Christmas Brass, the Riverboat Band, Clown Band, and the Toy Soldiers and Glock Girls. He was asked to be the Assistant Director of the “All American College Band” under Ron McCurdy in 1993, the choreographer/show designer for the Orlando and Paris bands in 1999 and served as the director for the summer 2000, 2004 and 2005 Disney Collegiate All-Star Bands. Ellis also serves as one of the conductors of the Disney Candle Light processional orchestra for the Pre and Post shows. He is also the director of the Orlando Magic Basketball team's pep-band 'Momentum' and their drumline 'Rhythm and Blue.'

As a professional composer and arranger, he presently serves as orchestrator for Dr. David Brunner’s choral pieces and has had works premiered and performed at Carnegie Hall in 2 separate concerts. Other opportunities have allowed him to serve as orchestrator for “Parable,” an original musical, live ensembles at the Walt Disney Resort, and film scoring for the UCF Department of Film and Digital Media. In the marching world, Ellis served as the music arranger and drill designer many outstanding high school music programs across the country and is presently the music arranger and drill designer for 8 high schools in Florida.. He has also arranged and designed shows for Northwestern University, The University of Minnesota, the University of Southern Illinois, Samford University, University of Alabama Birmingham, the University of South Florida and the Florida International University marching bands. He has served as the brass arranger for the Yokohama Inspires Drum and Bugle Corps since 2004 and served on the brass staff for the Magic of Orlando from 1996 through 1999. In his marching years, Ron was lead baritone for Suncoast Sound in 1982, 1983, and 1985 and taught marching in 1987 and 1988.

John Adcock
Brass Tech

John AdcockTeal Sound is pleased to announce the addition of Mr. John Adcock to the brass staff this season. John is a sought-after instructor, clinician and adjudicator in the Southeastern Pennsylvania area. He is currently the brass caption head for the award winning Daniel Boone High School Band in Birdsboro, PA. and visual designer and program consultant for Avon Grove High School in West Grove, PA. John was the brass caption head for the Upper Darby Marching Royals from Drexel Hill, PA, the 2007 USSBA Group V National Champions.

John drum corps experience includes many years as a performer with Suncoast Sound, the Blue Devils, and the DCA World Champion Reading Buccaneers. As an instructor, John served as a brass instructor and as the drum major for Carolina Gold in 2006. He has also taught the Americanos, Glassmen and Bushwackers.

Professionally, John spent seven years in the US Army as a tuba player and sound engineer, including a tour of duty in Iraq and Kuwait in 2003-2004 as a part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has also played tuba at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL and Busch Gardens in Tampa, FL.

John is an adjudicator with the National Judges Association. He lives in Thorndale, PA with his wife Michelle, a successful color guard designer.


Mike Steiner
Brass Tech

Mike SteinerMike is starting his 3rdyear as a memeber of the Brass Staff here at Teal Sound. Heis an alumni of Florida State University where he studied Trombone and Voice Performance andis nowvery active as a freelance musician, teacher and clinician; having played with the London Symphony Orchestra, Ormond Beach Symphony, Hot House Jazz, Perfect Martini Jazz and many other groups. Mike was Assistant Director of Bands at Seabreeze High School for 3 years, and is still a consulatant with the group. He has also been on the staff at Spruce Creek High School, Atlantic High School (Port Orange, FL), West Orange High Schooland Timber Creek High School, as well as many other programs in the Southeastern US.

Mike is currently resides in Port Orange, FL where he is the E-Communications and IT Manager for the Daytona Beach International Festival, theofficial American home ofthe London Symphony,in Daytona Beach, FL.


Ryan Whalen
Brass Tech

Ryan WhalenRyan is a native of the Jacksonville Beach area and is proud to continue working for his hometown corps. 2009 will mark Ryan's 4th year as a member of the brass staff. Having seen the corps grow from a much smaller organization in 2005 to its current strength as one of the largest organizations in Open Class, Ryan is excited to continue to be involved in helping the corps to grow and improve.

He is the current and founding band director at Oceanway Middle School in Jacksonville, FL. Starting the band when the school opened, it has grown from an initial group of 51 to a thriving group of concert and percussion ensembles, consistently receiving Superior ratings. Ryan also works as a consultant for several high school marching bands in the Jacksonville area, including his alma mater, Fletcher High School's "Pride of the Beaches." Ryan's drum corps experience includes marching soprano with the Magic of Orlando in the 1990's. Following that, he attended Florida State University, earning a Bachelors of Music Education. While there, Ryan was a member of the world renowned Marching Chiefs, as well as a variety of other concert, jazz and chamber ensembles.

When not enjoying his casual beach lifestyle, Ryan enjoys a good meal, playing loud and encouraging others to do the same.


Frank Williams
Music Consultant

Frank WilliamsFrank Williams received his B.S. degree in music education from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida, and his Master of Music degree from State University of New York in Fredonia, New York. An educator for nearly three decades, he has taught at the junior high, high school, and college levels. Currently, Mr. Williams is the Director of Bands at Boca Ciega High School in St. Petersburg, Florida, where his jazz ensembles have consistently received superior ratings throughout his tenure. Recently, the ensemble won the First Place Gold Status Award at JazzFest USA, sponsored by Downbeat Magazine.

Mr. Williams has also been involved in the drum corps and marching band arena for over 20 years. He is the former Brass Caption Head for the world champion The Cadets drum and bugle corps; Suncoast Sound drum and bugle corps; and Magic drum and bugle corps; and is presently a brass consultant for the Glassmen drum and bugle corps.

Mr. Williams is a member of MENC, FBA, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Omega Psi Phi, and has served as Vice President for the IAJE Florida chapter. He maintains an active schedule as a freelance composer, arranger, consultant, and clinician throughout the United States.


Percussion Staff

John Campese
Percussion Supervisor/Caption Head

John CampeseA lifelong central Florida resident, Mr. Campese also has a long and distinguished drum corps history, marching with the Leathernecks, Florida Vanguards, Anaheim Kingsmen and Suncoast Sound. In 1989, Campese was a founding member of Magic of Orlando. He has also served as percussion instructor/caption head for such corps as Suncoast Sound, Boston Crusaders, Yokohama Inspires (Japan) and, of course, Magic of Orlando. For 18 years Campese has served as a performer/arranger with Walt Disney World. He is perhaps best remembered as one of the performers in the powerhouse Future Corps. Mr. Campese is also the founder and director of the current WGI World Percussion Finalist, Infinity Percussion from Orlando, FL.


Lee Hansen
Percussion Tech

Lee HansenLee Hansen is originally from Rockford, Illinois. In 1991 he moved to Orlando, Florida where he currently makes his home. Lee attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana from 1988 to 1989. In 1991 he attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City.

He has worked as a Professional Percussionist with the Future Corps at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT and the Village Beatniks for Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Other Disney projects include, Tapestry of Nations; the Millennium Celebration at EPCOT, the World Premiere of Pocahontas in New York’s Central Park, ABC Radio, The Disney Channel, 2 tours of Japan, “Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee,” International Association of Jazz Educators and performances with Susan Egan.

Lee has also worked in the roles of teacher, writer, and arranger for various projects such as The Great Moscow Circus, South Africa Tour 2006, Taiwan Tour 2007, The 1st Degree Percussion Ensemble, University of Central Florida, various high school programs in the Central Florida area, the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps from Boston, Massachusetts, The Infinity Percussion Ensemble from Orlando, Florida, and most recently The Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps from Jacksonville, Florida.

He marched twelve years with the Phantom Regiment Organization. In 1989 and 1991 he was named Drum Corps Midwest Champion Multi-Tenor Drummer. Also in 1991 he was the Drum Corps International World Champion Multi-Tenor Drummer.

Lee has several pieces published through Row-loff Productions, a member of the Percussive Arts Society and is currently endorsed by Vic Firth Sticks and Sabian Cymbals.


Jared Johnson
Percussion Tech

Ashley WrightJared Johnson began his percussion education at age 9 in Deland, FL. Since that time, Jared has performed in many groups including the Magic of Orlando Drum and Bugle Corps from 1994-1998. He was a professional musician at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL for 5 years, performing with the student musician program, EPCOT’s Tapestry of Nations and Tapestry of Dreams productions, and the Candlelight Orchestra. From 2005-2007, Jared performed at Tokyo Disneyland as a Latin percussionist.

Along with his performance experience, Jared has been teaching percussion for the last 14 years. He has been an instructor for numerous high school bands including Tarpon Springs High School, a 5-time BOA AA National Champion and consistent BOA Grand Nationals Finalist. While at Tarpon Springs, Jared arranged and composed for Tarpon’s 2002 and 2004 WGI Concert World Finalist groups. He is currently on staff at Seminole High School, a 2-time BOA Grand Nationals Finalist and consistent BOA Grand Nationals Semi-Finalist, where he also serves as Front Ensemble Arranger. In addition to his duties at Seminole High School, Jared is entering his second season on the staff of Infinity Percussion, a WGI Independent World Finalist, where he serves as Front Ensemble Director and Music Ensemble Coordinator.

Jared has also instructed with several drum and bugle corps. He was on the staff of the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps from 1999-2003 and 2006-2007. While at Boston, Jared fulfilled many duties including: Front Ensemble Instructor, Staff Coordinator, and Co-Caption Head. Jared also instructed the Yokohama Inspires, from Yokahama, Japan, during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. This will be Jared’s first season with Teal Sound as the Front Ensemble coordinator.

Jared currently resides in Palm Harbor, FL, and is a member of the Vic Firth Education Team.


Anish John
Percussion Tech

Anish JohnAnish is from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and spent his formative years in the percussion world there as well. He attended Florida International University for two years, before transferring to the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL in 2006. Anish recently finished his Bachelor's degree at UCF in Management in Information Systems. 

Anish marched in the bass drum line's for two DCI Corps: With The Magic Drum & Bugle Corps in 2005, and Carolina Crown 2006. After aging out in 2006, he became the drum technician for both Hagerty and Oviedo High Schools in Orlando, working under INFINITY Executive Director John Campese (also percussion coordinator for Hagerty & Oviedo High Schools).

He has been an excellent addition to the talented INFINITY staff and his close ties to the staff members of STRYKE Percussion have made him a great fit within the PAC family of educators.


Osman (Cisco) Hance
Percussion Tech

Cisco HanceCisco has been involved in the marching percussion world since 2000. He performed with the Port St. Lucie High School Marching band for three years and graduated from the Fort Pierce Central High School Marching Band for his senior year. The three years with the Port St. Lucie band trained him well enough to audition and make The Magic of Orlando Drum and Bugle Corps battery after his junior year. After spending 2 summers with the organization, he decided to audition elsewhere. He left Magic and auditioned at Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps. During his rookie year with Crown, Cisco was named percussion section leader and center snare; a position he would maintain for 3 years. He aged out in 2007 with the corps, placing 5th in drums, the highest the corps had ever placed.
 
Cisco started his teaching career during the 2004- 2005 school year, his first year out of high school. He took on a challenge by teaching at 2 brand new high schools: West Boca Raton Community High School and Jensen Beach High School. In it's first year as a high school, West Boca Raton took its band to states, finishing 4th in its class. He then changed his focus to Jensen Beach High School and, beginning in the 2006- 2007 school year, Sebastian River High School. In Jensen Beach's first year with a field drumline, the school received superior percussion awards and a best in class award. In the 2007-2008 school year, Jensen Beach went undefeated in their class. In the 2 years teaching with Sebastian River, they received many best-in-class and best overall percussion awards.


Arthur Goodman
Tenor Technician

Arthur GoodmanArthur Goodman just returned from his summer with 2008 DCI Silver Medalist, The Blue Devils, and is currently concluding his Associate of Arts Degree Santa Fe College . He is also spending his fourth and final year the University of Florida’s “Pride Of The Sunshine” Gator Marching Band.

Arthur began his marching percussion career as a member of the Buchholz High School in Gainesville under the instruction of Tom Hurst. During his high school years, he was a member of the marching band, the indoor drumline, the top Jazz band, and the Buchholz High School Wind Symphony directed by the highly respected, Paula Thornton and Vicky Nolan.

After graduating high school in 2005, Arthur began his drum corps career as a member of the Kiwanis Kavaliers as a member of the tenor section. The following season, he marched with The Magic Drum and Bugle Corps, again as a member of the tenor section. In 2008, his age-out season, Arthur fulfilled one of his biggest dreams by becoming a member of the snare line of The Blue Devils.

Arthur’s indoor career started during the 2004 and 2005 seasons, under the direction of Tom Hurst, with his high school’s indoor program, IMPACT. In 2006, Arthur became a member of the tenor section of the Orlando based ensemble, First Degree, which would finish their season as the WGI Independent Open Class Champions. The following season, he became the tenor section leader of the first Independent World Class ensemble in Florida: Infinity Percussion, then moved to snare and became the section leader and overall unit leader of the WGI World Class Finalist ensemble in 2008. Arthur will age-out with Infinity Percussion in 2010.

in 2007, Arthur also became the original member (tenors) of the extremely unique stilt-drumming ensemble, UP BEAT (also known as ZANCOS) in Orlando. The group performs at SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica, and also does special events, conferences and performances at various venues.

Arthur plans to move to Orlando by the fall of 2009 where he will be going to Valencia College to study Recording Arts & Sound Production. He is excited about the opportunity of working with Teal and is looking forward to the upcoming season.


Matt Olsen
Bass Drum Technician

Matt was raised in Cajun country Louisiana and went to high school at Lake Howell HS in Winter Park Fl. He performed with Magic Drum and Bugle Corps for two seasons and the Santa Clara Vanguard for his age-out year, writing for and performing with the 1996 Individual and Ensemble Champion Bass Line. Attending Troy State University as a Music Education Major, Matt served as section leader and performed with the Sound of the South Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Chamber Winds, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Pep Band. Matt has served as composer, instructor and clinician for various band programs throughout Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi. While he was serving as percussion instructor at Enterprise HS in Enterprise, AL for seven years the EHS Indoor Drum line placed in finals multiple times at the WGI Championships. He has instructed Capitol Sound Drum and Bugle Corps and is currently in his second year with Teal Sound. Matt is in his sixth year as band director at Southeast Bulloch High School and lives with his wife Carie and their three daughters.


Obed Resendez
Cymbal Technician

Obed ResendezObed is a Florida native currently enrolled in the school of business at the University of Florida. After a brief hiatus, he will be returning to the full time drum corps scene with teal sound this summer. Obed’s marching experiences include Kiwanis Kavaliers in 2002, Spirit of JSU in 2003 and 2004(where he was part of Spirits Cymbal Individual and Ensemble winners of 2003 and 2004) Jacksonville State University in 2004, Odyssey Percussion Theater in 2005, and the University of Florida in 2008. He has taught such cymbal lines as Jacksonville State University, Cinco Ranch High School and one of the in-line technicians at Odyssey Percussion Theater. Aside from marching and teaching, he has also done some cymbal related consulting for lines including Magic of Orlando, Music City Mystique, Spirit of JSU and is featured in the book Cymbal Technique 101. He looks forward in being a part of Teal Sound for the 2009 season.


Visual Staff

Marcos Martinez
Visual Caption Supervisor

Marcos MartinezIn 2009, Marcos will be assuming the role of Visual Caption Supervisor and Designer. His work with the Teal Sound has earned him the distinguished role of putting this year's show, "The Velvet Rope" together along with the rest of the design team. He is currently in his 3rd season with the corps and brings a very energetic and fresh approach to the visual program.

Marcos Martinez was a member of the Florida Wave from 1987 – 89. In 1990 he joined the Blue Devils and performed with them through 1991. Marcos also marched with the University of Miami band from 1987 – 91 and in 1989 ventured into the color guard world when he was a member of the Alliance of Miami winter guard from 1989 – 93. He has taught both color guard and bands in south Florida and California and is currently the Visual Caption Head with the West Boca HS Band in Florida. Marcos was the designer/caption head of the Division III Champion Americanos Drum & Bugle Corps in 1994. He later became the visual caption head of the Spirit of Atlanta in 1997.

Marcos currently resides in Miami, FL with his soon to be new bride, April and son Chayce.


Tom Slaughter
Visual Caption Head

Tom SlaughterTom has been involved in the pageantry arts for 26 years as a performer, instructor, designer, and adjudicator. Tom graduated from Largo High School in Largo, FL and was a member of the Suncoast Sound Drum and Bugle Corps. His instruction and design experience is wide ranging and has seen him having the pleasure of working with many bands and winter guards throughout the Southeastern United States. Currently, Tom is the Visual Designer and Visual Coordinator for J.W. Mitchell High School in New Port Richey, Florida.

Tom's judging experiences are varied as well. He currently judges for Winter Guard International and is also the Chief Judge for the Florida Federation of Judges Association (FFJA). The FFJA manages and provides guard and percussion judges to the Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit, the South Florida Winter Guard Association, and the Carolina Winter Ensembles Association. During the fall, he travels extensively judging state and regional level marching band contests throughout the country. Tom is also the West Florida Regional Director for the Florida Marching Band Coalition and serves as a resource to the band directors in that region who host FMBC regionals.

In the real world, Tom is a Technology Resource Specialist at Wilson Middle School in Tampa, Florida. He currently resides in New Port Richey, Florida with his wife of 17 years, Rene'. They have two sons, Brandon (15) and Ryan (10).


Ashley Wright
Visual Tech

Ashley WrightAshley is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where she received her bachelors in Music Education, studying trombone under Dr. Philip Jameson. During her time at UGA, she was a member of the Redcoat Marching Band as tuba section leader and rowed for the Georgia Crew team. Ashley is an alumnus of Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps of Rockford, Illinois.

She currently lives in Athens, Georgia and is the Associate Director of Bands at East Jackson High School in Commerce, GA.

 


Jeremy Goldberg
Visual Tech

Jeremy GoldbergJeremy Goldberg is entering his third year with the Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps visual staff. Jeremy marched in the Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps in 2000 and 2001 and The Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps in 2002. Since that time Jeremy has been teaching in the Central and North Florida areas with marching bands such as Lake Howell High School, Timber Creek High School, Oviedo High School, and recently at Santa Fe High School in Gainesville, FL. Before beginning with Teal Sound in 2007 Jeremy was a visual instructor in 2005 for The Magic.

Jeremy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker working in a Substance Abuse Treatment Center in the Gainesville area.


James Lazzaro
Visual Tech

James LazzaroJames Lazaro will be joining the Teal Sound instructional staff for his second year, from the prior ;2008 drum corps season. James also teaches in the fall with Cooper City High school band and has been with them since 2004, Since 2007, James has been with the Braddock Independent Winter Guard as an instructor. Other schools James has worked with are Miami Coral Park High School in 2003, and Southwest High School in 2004-05. James has marched for the Boston Crusaders during 1999-2000 and 2002-03 season and also with the Phantom Regiment in 2001. He's also marched in the winter season for Independent Open Class 2003 Silver Medalist and World Class WGI Finalist Braddock Independent winter guards. He is currently enrolled at Florida International University (FIU), where he is pursuing a Bachelors in History and minor in Education.


Jason Diehl
Visual Tech

Jason DeihlJason Diehl has been the visual instructor for the Lake Howell High School Silver Regiment since he graduated from there in 1997. Prior to graduating, Jason was part of the Magic of Orlando Drum & Bugle Corps from 1995 to 1998. He has received his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida . During his time at UCF he was able to be a member of the World Champion Concord Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps for the 1999 and 2000 seasons. He currently is employed at OCI Associates, Inc. in Altamonte Springs, Florida where he is a Mechanical Engineer. Since 2007 he has been a member of the visual staff of the Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps.

 


Tonya Langdon
Visual Tech

Tonya LangdonTonya Langdon is currently the Band and Chorus Director at Paul R. Smith Middle School in Holiday, FL. She is a graduate of the nationally recognized band program at Milford High School in Milford, OH, which inspired her participation in the drum and bugle corps activity. In high school, Tonya also participated in a WGI competition winter guard. At 16, Tonya began her drum corps career becoming a member of the Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps where she marched Mellophone. Since 2001, she has been involved in drum and bugle corps as both a member and a staff member. Tonya attended Bowling Green State University, in Bowling Green, Ohio, where she received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree and graduated cum laude. At BGSU, Tonya studied with Grammy Award and two time American Horn Competition first prize winner Dr. Andrew Pelletier. She played horn in the Concert Band, Horn Choir, Orchestra and a touring brass quintet while attending BGSU. Tonya has worked with numerous high school marching ensembles, as both a visual and brass instructor, in the Cincinnati, Toledo, and Tampa areas for the past 7 years. For the past two marching band seasons, Tonya has been a brass/visual instructor at J.W. Mitchell High School in New Port Richey, FL.


Kendall Kruse
Visual Tech

Kendall KruseKendall Kruse is currently a senior attending the University of Northern Iowa and is majoring in Movement & Exercise Science. During his time at UNI, Kendall has been a member of the Panther Marching Band and the indoor drumline programs. Before joining the Teal Sound instructional staff, he marched for 5 years (2004-2008) with the Colts Drum & Bugle Corps on contra and lead baritone. Kendall has served as a visual tech and clinician for various high school programs in the state of Iowa including the Waterloo West Wahawk Marching Band and the Pride of West Marshall. Kendall is also an active consultant in the state and resides in Cedar Falls, IA where he enjoys playing baseball and spending time with his fiancee Bri.



Budd Williams
Color Guard Caption Head/Designer

Budd WilliamsBudd comes to Teal Sound for the 2008 season as the new Color Guard caption head. He originally hails from Connecticut and has grown up in the Drum Corps and Winterguard activity.

His drum corps marching experience include the Connecticut Valley Crusaders, Connecticut Hurricanes, the Bushwackers and the Sunrisers of Long Island, NY. He has also been involved with Aurora, Silver Falcons, Conquest and St. Ann’s World as a marching member.

Budd has served as either an instructor or caption head for the following corps and winter guard programs. The Sunrisers, Boston Crusaders, Cadets of Bergen County, Pride of Soka, the Crossmen and most recently with the Capital Regiment. He has taught the likes of Aurora, Zenith, St. Ann’sWorld, Braddock World, Lassiter HS and is currently the guard caption head at Hiram HS and South Paulding HS in Georgia. Budd also serves as an active judge with the USSBA.

He brings a fresh approach and philosophy to the Teal Sound guard program that will add a great deal to the overall visual and effect side of this year’s show. All of us here at Teal are glad that we have the experience and knowledge that Budd brings to the table.

Amy MetzlarAmy Metzler is beginning her second season with the 2009 Teal Sound Drum & Bugle Corps as a color guard technician. She is originally from Allentown, Pennsylvania where she marched with the Salisbury High School Color Guard, 1991 WGI Scholastic A Champions. She also marched with the Sunrisers Senior Drum Corps from 1995-1999. She has taught various drum corps including the Reading Buccaneers Senior Drum Corps 2000-2002, the Caballeros Senior Drum Corps in 2004, and the Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps in 2003, 2005, and 2006. Amy has also taught various high school programs in the Allentown, Pennsylvania area.

She currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia where she teaches third grade at Bryant Elementary School. In her spare time, she also teaches the South Paulding High School Color Guard.


Shane Cheatle
Colorguard and Movement Tech

Shane CheatleOriginally from St. Marys, PA, Shane started his band/colorguard career at St. Mary's Area High School as a tenor saxophone player before moving on to performing as an auxillary member.
 
Prior to moving to Florida, Shane was a member of the Magic of Orlando Drum & Bugle Corps in 2001 and 2002.  He then moved on to the Cadets of Bergen County until his age-out year in 2005.
 
Shane's winter guard experience includes Fahrenheit winter guard's inaugural year in 2003 before going further south to Braddock Independent where he is a current member and has been since 2004.
 
Shane has taught numerous color guards throughout south Florida including: Varela High School, Miami Senior High School, Killian High School, Braddock Independent Open and the Magic of Orlando Drum & Bugle Corps. Shane will be returning for his second season with Teal Sound as a guard and movement tech for the corps.
 
He is currently studying Public Relations at Florida International University in Miami, where he resides.


April Gilligan
Visual Color Guard Consultant/Designer

April has been involved with WGI for the past 20 years where she has worked with multiple successful guard programs.  She currently serves as the Director of Independent World Guard, Braddock Independent.  She is best recognized for her work with the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps and Braddock HS. April is currently involved with the University of Miami Band of the Hour, and manages an ESE reading and social skills program at the Atlantis Academy in the Miami area. April currently resides in Miami, FL where she is pursuing a Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling.

April will be continuing in her second season as a visual and color guard consultant for Teal Sound.

Ralph Venezia
Staff Advisor

Ralph VeneziaRalph Venezia is Staff Coordinator of the Teal Sound Drum Corps. A graduate of Oklahoma City University he has served as a designer, arranger, instructor, adjudicator and clinician for corps and bands since 1971. He was a member of the Fair Lawn Cadets and Hawthorne Muchahcos. As a performer and brass instructor for the Hawthorne Caballeros they won five American Legion National titles and four DCA World titles including an undefeated season.

As a trumpet player and percussionist he has performed with the Oklahoma City Junior Symphony, Ridgewood Concert Band and Orchestra, the Metropolitan Brass and ESAD Brass Quartette. Recently he was on the staff of the Cypress Creek High School Band and the Magic of Orlando Drum Corps. He is employed by the Youth Programs division of the Walt Disney Company in Orlando. He resides with his wife The Rev. Deborah Venezia and their two Basset Hounds Queen Elizabeth 111 and Princess Margaret, Countess of Kissimmee.
